Booklet and Poster
A key part of the B&C3 project will be an introductory booklet and poster, designed to introduce the subject of Roman military equipment to a new audience. Follow our Twitter feed to learn when publication is imminent and about any special offers that may be available.
Booklet
The new booklet, An Introduction to Roman Military Equipment (by J. C. N. Coulston and M. C. Bishop, to avoid any confusion with B&C3) will do exactly what it says on the cover. Like its forerunner, the Shire booklet (B&C0), it will provide a general introduction for those with a casual interest in the subject. However, it will also be the perfect gateway to the study of Roman military equipment for those who find their interest piqued. A recommended reading list will help guide further exploration of the topic (and may well include B&C3!). Publication (by The Armatura Press) is currently scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
Poster
Why produce a poster about Roman military equipment? Just as the booklet serves a different purpose to the main Roman Military Equipment book, so a poster will be aimed at a slightly different (although sometimes overlapping) market to the booklet. A booklet is something to sit down and read, whereas a poster will be appreciated more for its overall effect and perhaps read in small chunks at any one time. Design in a book should be invisible (if you notice it, it is failing), whereas design of a poster is a crucial component to its visual appeal and efficacy. Publication is also currently scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
